ASM Miti Tate passes away
YINGKIONG, May 01: Miti Tate ASM of Geku (Peram) died on April 29 last due to cardiac arrest at the age of 48. She is survived by his husband, six sons and three daughters. Meanwhile, J.K. Panggeng local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Education, Law & Justice expressed deeps shock over the untimely demise of late Tate.
In his condolence message to the bereaved family members, Panggeng said late Tate's premature death is an irreparable loss to the village in particular and society as a whole.
Attending the funeral function and condoling her death the Zilla Parishad Chairperson of Upper Siang, Apel Modi said that late Tate was a dedicated Panchayat worker and an active social worker. Both Panggeng and Modi prayed to almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and to bestow enough strength to the bereaved family of the deceased.

AAPWU celebrates International Labour Day
ITANAGAR, May 1: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) celebrated International Labour Day at its head office here today.

Power supply disrupted as electric poles fall down
ITANAGAR, May 1: Many electric poles at Chetam area of Upper Subansiri district were either damaged or fell down after few months of their erection posing great danger to human life and animals, alleged All Chetam Circle Students’ Union.
The village was electrified under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vityutikaran Yujana but the electric poles were damaged within few months causing disruption in power supply, informed the students’ union. While expressing total dissatisfaction over the quality of work and alleging misappropriating fund in implementation of scheme, the students union demanded the department concerned to repair the damaged electric line to restore regular power supply in the area.

ITANAGAR, May 1: East Siang Superintendent of Police Devender Arya today expressed surprise over ‘his quoted reference’ in a news item published in a section of local dailies today regarding investigation into the Mathew Dabi death case. “The quoted reference has been taken out of my discussion with representatives of Galo Welfare Society (GWS). However, I was surprised to see my quoted reference as district Police has not issued any official statement in this regard,” the SP said. Stray animal eviction drive begins
ITANAGAR, May 1: The regular eviction drive of stray animals in the Capital Complex began today at Naharlagun with police personnel and Public Premises Protection Force (PPPF) removing as many as 20 stray animals from town area which included cows, goats, pigs and dogs.
While informing that similar eviction drives will be carried out from Chimpu to Banderdewa on regular basis, the chief estate officer, Capital Complex, in an official statement urged the owners of domestic animals that they should not allow their animals to move in public places as they will be liable to pay penalty as per the provision of the law. The evicted stray animals will be disposed off in auction proceedings, the statement further read.
Rly Sramik Union demands job reservation for locals
ITANAGAR, May 1: All Arunachal Section Division North Frontier Railway Construction Loading and Unloading Sramik Union (AASDF RLY CONST L&ULSU) team led by its president met the Chief Commercial Manager of NF Railways at Maligaon, Guwahati, Assam and submitted a memorandum urging him to appoint local indigenous youths of Arunachal Pradesh in group “C” and “D” posts in the ratio of 80:20 as per the state government recruitment rule.
The team also urged the Chief Commercial Manager to extend Rajdhani Express services upto Naharlagun station and also discussed with him for devising a proper mechanism to check ILPs of travelling passengers.
Meanwhile, the Chief Commercial Manager after having a threadbare discussion and going through the memorandum has assured the team to look into their demand, the release claimed.
Rebia bats for railway service
ITANAGAR, May 1: The maiden train service which started on April 7 last as announced
by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to put Arunachal Pradesh on the railway map of India,
would bring a wave of economic change to immensely benefit every section of the state,

Rebia, a former Rajya Sabha member, who visited the station here today to take stock of the situation, called upon the people to not panic so far as implementation of the inner line permit (ILP) is concerned.
The state is under the Eastern Bengal Frontier Regulation, 1873, making it mandatory for any outside to obtain ILP to enter Arunachal Pradesh and there is no compromise with the provision, Rebia said, adding presently most of the people from Assam have been visiting with great inquisitiveness to see the land of rising sun, take snaps as memory and go back. This should be welcomed while ensuring those who want to stay for longer period should obtain ILP. The GoAP would have a strong mechanism in place soon for effective checking of ILP to prevent influx of anyone without ILP, he said.

Exorbitant rate for HSRP decried
ITANAGAR, May 01: Protesting against high amounts charged from vehicle owners for installation of high security registration plate (HSRP), the All Arunachal Contractors Welfare Association (AACWA) has demanded the Department concerned to cancel the agreement with Shimnit Utsch India Pvt. Ltd. and invite fresh tender for supplying or manufacturing HSRP.
AACWA in a release claimed that rates of HRSP are not uniform in all the states of the country. It is exorbitantly high in Arunachal Pradesh as compared to other states.
Giving example, AACWA said that the rate for getting HSRP in neighboring state Assam is Rs.119 for two wheelers, Rs.153 for three wheelers, Rs.318 for light motor vehicles and Rs.335 for medium/ heavy vehicles. While in Himachal Pradesh, the rate is Rs.105 for two wheelers, Rs. 125 for three wheelers,Rs.304 for light motor vehicles, Rs. 315 for Medium/ heavy vehicles and Rs.100 for Power tillers and coupled trailers.
Whereas in Arunachal Pradesh, the rate for getting HSRP is Rs.660 for two wheelers, power tillers and coupled trailers, Rs.798 for three wheelers, Rs.1568 for light, medium and heavy motor vehicles.
While demanding the authority to explain the reason behind such high and exorbitant amounts, the Association urged the vehicle owners to protest the same. The Association further demanded that installation of secure number plate should be made compulsory in the state until the rate is made reasonable.
Governor urges NIT faculties to take up research works
ITANAGAR, May 1: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. General (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma exhorted the scientists and faculties of National Institute of Technology, Yupia to carry out research works which are relevant to the State.
Addressing the students and faculty of National Institute of Technology at its temporary campus, Yupia today, the Governor advised them to be innovative and useful to the state and also urged them to put emphasis on research related to hydropower and environment. Governor encouraged the faculty to concentrate on these subjects, while underscoring the fact that NIT, Arunachal Pradesh is located in the State, the institute must become partner in development of the State. He exhorted them to maintain the spirit of excellence.
Sharing his observation, Governor advised the NIT fraternity to take up the problems as challenge. He said that the NIT, Arunachal Pradesh has young team and reposed his faith that this young team will focus on new areas and innovative ideas relevant to the State and make a difference.
Referring to his recent visit to border districts, Governor asked the NIT to address the challenges of computer knowledge in these areas and advised them to take up training of teachers in these districts.
Governor also brought up the issue of solar energy, which he said should be made economically and commercially viable. Further he advised them to have better synchronization with State Government and also with local people, when they shift to the new campus.
Earlier, ushered around the temporary campus by Prof (Dr) CT Bhunia, Director, NIT, the Governor visited various blocks were research works are being carried out. The Governor complimented the faculty for the dedicated endeavours.

Citizens demand speedy investigation into illegal cash seizure
ITANAGAR, May 1: Large number of people led by Bath Teli ex ZPM, senior citizens RT Goyee and Tao Tagar today gheroed Yazali police station questioning slow investigation regarding the seizure of Rs 1.84 crore during the election. Tao Tagar stated that though a case has been registered and statements taken from drivers of the two vehicle and PSO who was accompanying the cash, the investigation has not progressed. Public will lose faith on the officials and police if such deeds continue, he added.
It is worth mentioning that one of the vehicles bearing the registration number AR O1 E 6975 used for carrying cash was issued by the RO Lower Subansiri to a INC candidate for use during election. His PSO who was accompanying the vehicle at the time of seizure of cash been suspended by Arunachal Pradesh Police. During the discussion with protester, Officer in Charge Inya Ete is believed to have confessed that there is a delay in the investigation. Further he has promised to look into the matter and complete investigation within short period.

State govt. should intervene
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the article published in reader’s forum column of your esteemed daily under the headline “Arunachalee should not be deprived” on 28th April 2014 written by one Ronme Dogging. In this regard, we would also like add some more information. The desirable qualification for the post of programme executive and transmission executive is acquaintance with culture, traditions and literature of the area concerned.
If an outsider is appointed in those unreserved post (Where no single Non –APST could qualified for interview, as per Ronme Dogging), how we can expect that they will serve the state efficiently without knowledge of culture and tradition of Arunachal Pradesh. After all, those programme and transmission executive will be working either in All India Radio or Dordarhsan, where knowledge of culture, literature etc of the concerned area is very essential.
As per Ronme Dogging total candidates are 12 and the total posts for transmission
executive are 16 along with few post of Programme executive. It means total vacancies
for Arunachal Pradesh are more than 16!! Vacancy is outnumbering the number of candidates
selected for the interview. Hence those 12 candidates should be absorved by the Prasar
Bharati anyhow. The local youth should not be denied job for non-
The worry of those 12 local youths is that total ST quota is 7, which means 5 candidates may not be absorved if they are not adjusted in unreserved post. Local candidates also worry that, Prasar Bharati may withdraw unreserved posts because of non availability of General candidate for the interview. If this happens, it will be huge loss for entire state. Because there will be shortage of staff in the concerned department in our state. But if those local youth get absorved by the Prasar Bharati, at least few unemployed youth of our state will get the job.
Therefore we the well wisher and friends of those 12 candidates appeal to the state govt to initiate step for giving justice to 12 local youths by making request to Prasar Bharati as soon as possible before declaration of result ( tentative date of result is 26/05/2013 by the SSC). We also appeal to the unemployed youth Association and AAPSU to raise the issue with the state government.
